Meet the Creator

Hello, my name is Kriss, short for Kristina. I can speak here about my art education, share a little part of my biography, or tell a story of how I discovered ceramics during my pregnancy. I can also talk about myself in a third name and use “Kristina” instead of “I” just to sound fancy, but I don’t want to. I don’t believe any of that matters to you.

What does matter though is how I create, and that is what I would like to share here.

I don’t create while angry. Clay bonds with water, and water transmits energy. You don’t need my angry energy;)

Working with clay puts me in a meditative state of mind. I transmit energies through myself into my work.

I create in silence, and no, it’s not creepy. Music has power, it affects our flow. Music has certainty to it. If I were listening to soft music I would be creating things that align with it, if I were creating while listening to aggressive music, the same would apply. No music - no dictation to how I am feeling. I’m able to remain ~empty~ so I can transmit through myself into my work whenever is needed.

I believe that every piece I create has a purpose for someone or something. It might be a human or a place. So if something specific is calling out for you, or makes you think of somebody or something you know, then that piece found its owner.

And this one might sound weird but I don’t control the clay, my hands, or anything at all. I see, I feel, I act, responding to what’s happening during the process instead of trying to fit in a certain box of ideas. My work is asymmetric, spontaneous, and free.
